I’ll be short this week as I’m out of town right now, and the only Internet access I have is dial up (AHHHH!!!).  This is our final week of the series “Mission Possible”, and Bro. Todd will be finishing us out with the topic of “Giving Until It Hurts”.  Reaching people will cost us in many ways, and Bro. Todd will be looking at several of them.   Our music this week continues the theme of sharing Christ with others because of our love for Him.  This will also be a special day as we will be commissioning our Mission Team to Guatemala.  Be sure to check out the links to the songs in the chart above, and be ready to sing out as we praise our God together this week.  I look forward to worshiping with you Sunday.

June 29th Sermon “Assignment 4: Beyond Reach”

Many times we think that the people outside our immediate community are beyond our reach.  However, there are ways we can reach even those who are beyond our immediate area.  ‘As you are going’ you can have some divine appointments.  God can send you to those who need Him and use you to send others to those who are searching for Him.  Learn how you can go just beyond your reach.

“Mission Possible” has truly been an awesome series thus far.  John Herring is up this week and will be speaking about the opportunities we have to reach people that we would consider “beyond reach”.  Our music this week stays with the same theme we have been on throughout the series, which is living our lives to glorify Christ.

“We Shine” is back on the schedule this week.  I must admit that I was impressed with the job our band and singers did with this one a couple of weeks ago.  It’s a great song, and will be an exciting way to start up our services Sunday.  Scream it out with me, “WE ARE THE REDEEMED WE ARE THE ONES WHO ARE FREE AND WE BELONG TO JESUS!”  Check out the video of Steve Fee performing this song by clicking the link in the chart above.

“Love the Lord Your God” reminds us of the greatest commandment which is to “love the Lord your God will all your heart, soul, and mind”.  Our love for God should cause us to want to tell everyone about him.  PJ reminded us this past week in the sermon that Jesus went on to say that the second greatest commandment is to love our neighbor as ourselves.  Check out a video of the song by clicking the link in the chart above.

“Jesus Saves” is a traditional hymn that most everyone is familiar with, and it goes hand in hand with the final song of our set “Mighty to Save”.  My Savior He can move the mountains, My God is mighty to Save”.  It doesn’t matter what race, age, gender, where they are from, or what they have done.  My God is mighty enough to save even those who we think to be “beyond reach”.  Since we know this, we should be spreading the good news that truly “Jesus Saves”.  Take time to listen to “Mighty to Save” by clicking the link in the chart above.

Thanks for taking time to check out what will be happening on Sunday.  I look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday.

I’m excited to P.J. will be preaching this week.  This will be his first time on a Sunday morning at Oasis, but I know he’ll do a great job.  He will be speaking about how we can reach our community, which is an area that he has a lot of experience in over the past year (just take a look at our student ministry).   We will start off our time of worship with the song “Everyday” which is a call for us to be consistent.  “Everyday it’s You I live for” should be our anthem as we try to live each day in a way that pleases our God.  Check out a video of “Everyday” by clicking the link in the chart above.

“You Are Holy” is a familiar song at Oasis.  I really love it when the men and women are singing out their parts together.  There have been times that I expected the rafters to shake.  Let’s shake them again as we proclaim the greatness of our God.  Check out a video of this song by clicking the link in the chart above.

We introduced the song “Shine” last week, and will be singing it again this Sunday.  This song continues our theme of living for God’s glory.  Check out the video for this song by clicking the link in the chart above.

We finish the music portion of our services with “Take My Life and Let It Be”. This is an old song, but we need to be reminded of the message everyday.  “Take my life and let it be consecrated Lord to Thee.  Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of Thy love“.  This song once again reminds us of our theme; the fact that we are to be living for Christ, and not ourselves.

Thanks for taking time to check out what will be happening on Sunday.  Many of us from the staff will be at Budd Creek Camp this week as Bro. Todd will be preaching, and Cindy and I will lead worship.  Keep us in your prayers as we try to be a blessing to the students and adults that will be attending.  I look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday.

Your second greatest area of influence is our relationships.  It’s through your relationships that you can set the example of who God is in your life.  This is an opportunity to set an example in action as well as in your conversation.  Matthew 5:16 tells us “ … you should be a light for other people.  Live so they can see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven.” Today, discover how you can make a difference in your relationships.

I must admit that I’m a little nervous about doing two new songs (for Oasis) in one Sunday.  Do me a favor, and encourage others to check out the blog so they can learn the two new songs.  We are currently right in the middle of VBS, and I’m having a blast just as I always do.  Last night was our first night, and so some of the songs where new to the kids that where here.  The cool thing is that they don’t let their unfamiliarity change the way they praise.  They sing out as loud as they can, and attempt the actions no matter what.  By the end of the night, I was blown away with their enthusiasm as they praised their God through song.  Oh how I wish everyone could catch on to that kind of passion!

We’re continuing our new series “Mission Possible”, and this week Bro. Todd will be talking about how we can reach those who are around us.  Christ tells us we are to be the light of the world, but that light doesn’t come from us, we simply reflect the light he has shown us.  We begin this week singing about the “Marvelous Light” that we run to.  This is a pretty familiar song at Oasis, but incorporate it into your personal time this week, and let’s really sing it out as we celebrate the fact that God has called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light.

“We Shine” is a new song at Oasis, and requires a lot of energy (Be sure to stretch and get warmed up so that you’re nice and awake by service time. Ha)  This is another song of celebration as we shout “We are the Redeemed, we are the ones who are free, and we belong to Jesus!  We are now alive and in this world we will shine, and we belong to Jesus!”  Be sure to watch the video of Steve Fee leading this song so that you can become familiar with it and sing it out.

“Shine” continues our theme of being light to the world.  Being light to the world is more than just singing about it at church.  Philippians 2:14-15 says, “Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe.”  We live in a world where it seems like wrong is right and right is wrong, but Paul reminds us that we are not to be like the world around us so that we can shine like the stars, and bring our God glory.  Check out the video of this song by clicking the link in the chart above.

We finish the music portion of our services with “Here I Am to Worship”.  Light of the world you stepped down into darkness opened my eyes, let me see”.   Once again we are reminded that Jesus is the light of the world, and our response to Him is worship.  You can check out a video for this song  as well by clicking the link in the chart above.

Thanks for taking time to check out what will be happening on Sunday.  If you get a chance this week (through Wednesday) come by the church around 8:20p.m. and see how passionate our kids are about worship.  It really is exciting to see.  I look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday.

We begin a new series entitled “Mission Possible” this Sunday in which we will discover how we can better reach those around us for Christ.  Today’s sermon deals with our first mission which is our family.  Our music today deals with God’s love for us, our love for Him, and the fact that we are His children.  My main thought behind the music for today is the fact that our first motivation in reaching others is that we love our God.

“Jesus Loves Even Me” & “O How I Love Jesus” are two pretty familiar hymns.  Because of their simplicity, many times these songs are viewed as songs for children.  The good news is we are children of God, so I suppose they apply.  I think they are a good reminder of the fact that Christ loved us before we where born, and we love Him, because He first loved us.

“Our Love Is Loud” continues our theme of love for our God.  It’s one thing to say it, but another to show it.  I challenge you this week to make sure your love is loud through actions, and not just the notes and words we sing on Sunday.  I think if we truly make it a point to live out our love this week, when we sing it on Sunday, it will be bigger and louder than ever before.  Take a listen to “Our Love Is Loud” by clicking the link in the chart above.

I am so excited to be singing “Children of God” this Sunday.  I make sure it plays in my mp3 player every morning when I’m out jogging.  What a reminder to know that I am His Child, and nothing can change that.  One of my favorite things in the world right now is when I see Saigel for the first time after being away for a few hours.  She’ll come running with a big smile saying “DADDY!”  She’s at that age where Mommy and Daddy are big time and she’s not afraid to show her excitement when she sees us.  I think it makes God smile when we come running to Him with excitement claiming our relation to Him.  Take a listen to “Children of God” by clicking the link in the chart above.

“There Is No Greater Love” follows the same theme as the previous song as we celebrate the fact that God is our Father.

We will finish up the music portion of the service with the song “Everything to Me” which sums up the entire musical theme for the day.  He is our everything, we are His, and because of our love for Him we want to reach others for His glory.  You can listen to a rough version of this song by clicking the link in the chart above.

Thanks for taking time to check out what will be happening on Sunday.  Let’s show our big love for God with our lives this week as we prepare to worship together this week.  I look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday.
