August 31st Sermon “The Power of One Commitment”

Commitment is a powerful thing in itself.  When we are committed in the easy times and the difficult times to see it through, it honors God.  Too many times, we quit before we see any results.  We give up on our marriage, we give up on our family, we give up on what God has called us to do, we give up on our career, we just give up.  Our biggest reason is it just gets too hard.  As we look today at Nehemiah 8, we’ll discover that as we stay committed, God will honor our faithfulness.  Today, are there any commitments you need to renew in your life?

What a time of worship we had yesterday!  I really feel like God was moving in the hearts of His people, and that a lot of us where able to refocus on the vision that God has for Oasis Church.  I would love to hear some of your comments about yesterday’s service as well.  By the way, service totals aren’t that big of a deal to us here at Oasis, but we are pretty pumped up about the fact that we had over 200 in attendance yesterday.  God is truly blessing at Oasis.

This week we finish up our series on “The Power of One” with “The Power of One Commitment”.  We have the vision, and now it’s time to commit to whatever we have to do to accomplish that vision.  Our music this week deals with the fact that our God is committed to us.  He is always faithful, even when we are not.  It’s my hope that as we worship our faithful God, we will celebrate, and want to be more like Him.

We begin this week with “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” which is a traditional hymn with an outstanding theme of worship.  I love the part that says, “All I have needed Your hand has provided”.  Our God is faithful to provide for our every need.  Just as we talked about a couple of weeks ago, He always keeps His promise to be with us.

We continue our time of worship with “Everlasting God” which is a reminder that our God reigns forever.  He is our comforter and defender who never grows weary.  Wow I love this song!  Check out a video of the song by clicking the link in the chart above.

“You’re Worthy of My Praise” is a statement of worship proclaiming that our God truly is worthy of all the praises we give.  Check out a video of this song by clicking the link in the chart above.

We’ll finish up the music portion of the service with the song “Everyday” which is a song of commitment.  Everyday it’s You I live for, Everyday I’ll follow after You, Everyday I’ll walk with You my Lord”.  It’s not a one time event, or even an occasional commitment; It’s a daily commitment to walk with our God.  Can you truly mean what you sing?  Check out a video of this song by clicking the link in the chart above.

Thanks for taking time to see what is going on this Sunday at Oasis.  We are really seeing the hand of God move in our church, and I would encourage you to continue to prepare for an awesome time of worship every week.  I look forward to worshipping with you Sunday.

August 24th Sermon “The Power of One Vision”

We all need a sense of direction in our lives.  We feel pulled in many ways all at once.  How do we find the right path for what God has planned for our lives?  He communicates this to us through vision.  He gives us a vision of who it is we have been created to be and what it is He wants us to do.  He also gives His church a clear vision of His purpose as well.  One clear vision will give us direction of where it is we are going.  This vision will also clarify many things that no longer need to be a part of our lives or our church.  In this message, discover how one clear vision can impact all those around you.

What an awesome time of worship we had last Sunday!  God is really moving at Oasis Church, and we are so excited as we move into Fall, and think about what is still to come.  This week our service deals with the “Power of One Vision”.  When we as a church allow God to lead, and move together in that direction, great things will happen.

We only have three congregational songs this week as this will be a very different service.  I would love to tell you all about it, but then that would ruin the surprise now wouldn’t it.  The song “Be the Centre” (I don’t know, that’s just the way the author spelled it) is a spiritual cry that God would be the center of everything that we do.  So often we need to get ourselves out of the center.  We often feel as though everything revolves around us.  But when Christ is at the center of our lives, everything else falls into it’s place.  Take time to listen to this song by clicking the link in the chart above.

We move on to “Let It Rise” which is a song of praise, and a statement of what we want to happen during our time of worship.  Notice the words of the song are “Let the glory of the Lord rise among us”.  Did you notice the word “us”? (hopefully you did as I underlined it and everything)  With our theme being the power of ONE vision, I found this song to be fitting as it’s a song of agreement between everyone singing.  Let’s lift our voices as we let the praises of our King rise.  Listen to the song by clicking the link in the chart above.

Our final song is “Our Love Is Loud” which is a very familiar song if you have been around Oasis for a while.  I thought there would be no better way to close out the services than to proclaim our love for Christ.  Check out “Our Love Is Loud” by clicking the link in the chart above.

Thanks for taking time to see what is going on this Sunday at Oasis.  This is truly a service you will not want to miss!  I look forward to worshipping with you Sunday.

August 17th Sermon “The Power of One Promise”

Today, it’s rare for us to trust many people in our lives to keep their promises.  There are few that stand out in our minds.  However, there is one who always keeps His promises.  When God makes a promise, He keeps it.  You can count on it in days ahead.  God’s word is full of promises that God has made for us in this life and beyond.  In the life of Nehemiah, there was one promise that was made as well that he was able to draw strength from to move forward.  In this message, discover that God keeps His word to us. (Nehemiah 1:8 & 9).

It’s such a great thing to be reminded of some of the many promises that God has given to us through His word.  The most exciting thing is that God ALWAYS keeps His promises.  I think this will be a great time of celebration as we lift our voices to our God who is always faithful to do what He says.

We begin with a traditional hymn (with a little Oasis flair of course) “Standing On the Promises”. This song is a reminder that we can truly stake everything we have on the promises that God has made.  I have attached a link to the lyrics in the chart above.  Take time to read through the lyrics and incorporate them into your own personal time of worship.

The next three songs; “Forever”, “Everlasting God”, and “You Never Let Go” continue our theme of celebrating the promises of God.  God tells us that He will never leave us.  He will never let us go, and nothing can pull us from His hand.  We’re reminded that when we are weak that God is the Everlasting God that can give us strength when we put our trust in Him.  Take time to listen to these songs by clicking the links in the chart above.

Our final song of the day as we dismiss the services is “Salvation Is Here” which once again states our belief in God’s promises.  I know my God saved the day and I know His word never fails.  I know my God made a way for me  I love this song, because of the words “I Know”.  There is no doubt about it, God keeps His promises.

Thanks for taking time to check out what will be happening this week at Oasis.  Take time this week to think about the many promises that God has given us all.  Let’s come together Sunday ready to celebrate our faithful God.  I look forward to worshipping with you Sunday.

August 10th Sermon “The Power of One Prayer”

Can one prayer really make a difference?  Is there a certain amount of times we have to pray to be heard?  As we look at the life of Nehemiah, we’ll see the power of one prayer.  Together, we will learn that God hears the cry of our heart as we open up to Him.  In this message, discover the power of prayer made simple.

We begin a new series this week entitled “The Power of One”.  This week John Herring will be speaking about the Power of One Prayer.  There truly is power in our prayer, and that is because of the power of our Great God.  This week our music focuses on our Mighty God and the power that He has.

We begin strongly this week with the song “The Highest and the Greatest” which proclaims just that.  Our God is the Highest and the Greatest.  He is the Lord of all.  We continue our theme with the song “Indescribable”.  I know that this is a familiar song to us, but take time to read through the lyrics this week and incorporate them into your personal time of worship.  You can read through the lyrics by clicking this link. http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Indescribable-lyrics-Chris-Tomlin/A8C7AFC4531F88EC48256FB90012B153

“To God Be the Glory” is a statement of what our goal is, and tha tis to praise the Lord.  He truly has done great things in our lives, and for that He deserves all glory, and praise.  “Song of Praise” comes directly from Psalm 63 which is a testament of God’s greatness, and our response to Him during worship.  We then finish the music portion of our services with “Mighty to Save” which once again proclaims the power and greatness of our God.  There truly is no one beyond His reach.  Take time to listen to all of the songs for this week by clicking the links in the chart above.

Thanks for checking out our blog.  I hope that this blog is a tool for you to better prepare yourself for our corporate times of worship on Sunday.  I look forward to worshiping with you Sunday.
