Getting Ready for Sunday February 10

February 10 Sermon “Giving Our Life” Have you reached the place in your life, where you are content to let God decide where you live and where you work? Will you let him decide how much you make and how much you spend? Are you willing to let him tell you who you should marry and who your friends should be? Surrendering your will to his will is worship in it’s simplest form. Today, we will explore what it really means to surrender.

Most of the songs on this list should be familiar to you.  We have performed some of them more than others, but you’ve probably heard them all at one time or another.  One of my favorites as of late (as you have probably figured out) is “Happy Day” by Tim Hughes.  I love to play and sing this one loud.   What better way to worship and celebrate than to remember that happy day when Christ came into our lives.  You can listen to “Happy Day” on Tim’s myspace page by clicking the link in the list above.  It’s the second song in his myspace player.

It’s been a while since we sang “Marvelous Light” together.  What an awesome song to testify about how God took us out of darkness and into marvelous light. “Marvelous Light” was written by Charlie Hall, and you can listen to it on Charlie’s myspace page by clicking the link in the songlist above.  It’s the second song in his player as well. Also, take a look at 1 Peter 2:9-12.  I especially like the way it’s worded in the New Century version that we use with our studies.

We have been singing “Everything to Me” a lot lately.   Every time I sing it, I’m reminded of how much it truly needs to apply to my life.  If God truly is my everything, how does that effect the things I say, and the decisions I make.  Let’s sing it out on Sunday and truly strive to make Him our everything every day of our lives. You can listen to a very rough recording of “Everything to Me” by clicking here or on the link in the songlist above.  When you get to my soundclick page, click the link next to “Everything to Me” that says “full” and it will show you the lyrics to the song as well as allow you to download it as an mp3.  How awesome is that?  Hopefully soon we will have a full recording with all the instrumentation.

My brother Derick will be with us on Sunday, and I’ve asked him to sing a song that he wrote entitled “The Answer”.  When all of life seems to be a question, there is truly one answer.  I think it’s fitting for this service in that there will hopefully be some in attendance who have not accepted Christ.  It’s a great reminder that we all need Jesus in our lives.

Thanks for taking time to check out what will be happening on Sunday.  Take time to pray for our services, and those who will be serving in them.  Let’s strive to live a life of surrender this week, and allow God to prepare our hearts to worship Him.  See you Sunday!

  1. How awesome is this!!! So neat to be able to “hear the heart” of our staff & see what they’ve prepared for the upcoming services. I will definitely be referencing this blog. I love that it’s so personal. Thanks for all your hard work in helping us be even more prepared for our time of worship on Sundays! I hope this will be utilized by our church family, regular guests, and those interested in visiting for the first time–in order to help them avoid distractions on Sundays and come anticipating what they’ve prepared for throughout the week. This is great. I will be referencing people I invite to this blog as well!!!!

This is really cool! I can’t wait to see how this develops and what we are doing on here in a few months. I have been hoping for a way to listen to the music we play throughout the week. I truly love the music we sing and use to worship God. Of course, I’m kind of partial to our singers voices so that will be an adjustment, but I am excited that I can listen to the songs. I particularly like the songs that Doug and Cindy write. Erin and I listen to them most days on the way to school. She has her favorites as well. Anyway, this is great and I can’t wait to see what happens next! Keep up the great work everyone!

This blog is great!! I am so excited to see how it grows along with Oasis’ other new ideas. Mike & Doug (and everyone else involved)– you’ve done an excellent job. . .Keep up the great work! I believe this added feature will greatly enhance our members and prepare us for worship each Sunday. Music is my great passion and the way I feel God has blessed me to serve, so the music portion is especially my favorite, but I love it all! Blessings to all.
