Getting Ready for Sunday, August 31st

August 31st Sermon “The Power of One Commitment”

Commitment is a powerful thing in itself.  When we are committed in the easy times and the difficult times to see it through, it honors God.  Too many times, we quit before we see any results.  We give up on our marriage, we give up on our family, we give up on what God has called us to do, we give up on our career, we just give up.  Our biggest reason is it just gets too hard.  As we look today at Nehemiah 8, we’ll discover that as we stay committed, God will honor our faithfulness.  Today, are there any commitments you need to renew in your life?

What a time of worship we had yesterday!  I really feel like God was moving in the hearts of His people, and that a lot of us where able to refocus on the vision that God has for Oasis Church.  I would love to hear some of your comments about yesterday’s service as well.  By the way, service totals aren’t that big of a deal to us here at Oasis, but we are pretty pumped up about the fact that we had over 200 in attendance yesterday.  God is truly blessing at Oasis.

This week we finish up our series on “The Power of One” with “The Power of One Commitment”.  We have the vision, and now it’s time to commit to whatever we have to do to accomplish that vision.  Our music this week deals with the fact that our God is committed to us.  He is always faithful, even when we are not.  It’s my hope that as we worship our faithful God, we will celebrate, and want to be more like Him.

We begin this week with “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” which is a traditional hymn with an outstanding theme of worship.  I love the part that says, “All I have needed Your hand has provided”.  Our God is faithful to provide for our every need.  Just as we talked about a couple of weeks ago, He always keeps His promise to be with us.

We continue our time of worship with “Everlasting God” which is a reminder that our God reigns forever.  He is our comforter and defender who never grows weary.  Wow I love this song!  Check out a video of the song by clicking the link in the chart above.

“You’re Worthy of My Praise” is a statement of worship proclaiming that our God truly is worthy of all the praises we give.  Check out a video of this song by clicking the link in the chart above.

We’ll finish up the music portion of the service with the song “Everyday” which is a song of commitment.  Everyday it’s You I live for, Everyday I’ll follow after You, Everyday I’ll walk with You my Lord”.  It’s not a one time event, or even an occasional commitment; It’s a daily commitment to walk with our God.  Can you truly mean what you sing?  Check out a video of this song by clicking the link in the chart above.

Thanks for taking time to see what is going on this Sunday at Oasis.  We are really seeing the hand of God move in our church, and I would encourage you to continue to prepare for an awesome time of worship every week.  I look forward to worshipping with you Sunday.

Amazing. I would stop at there but you know I always have more to say. Yesterday was such an amazing time of worship and reflection on so many levels. As always Todd did an awesome job showing us of our faults with love and compassion. This has been one of my favorite studies at Oasis. God has spoken to me in so many ways through this study! You guys are so amazing. That’s it…amazing!

WOW! The change of pace in the service yesterday was a refreshing thing to encounter. I know it took extrawork to make that happen and I am thankful. I am looking forward to the fall here at Oasis and can’t wait for next Sunday!!!

Sunday was wonderful. I am always surprised and delighted with our worship at Oasis. The staff really does a wonderful job with being creative to make our environment envolved. All of our senses are in tuned with worship. Wow!!! I am excited with how our church is growing. Thank you for always focusing on what is most important – Our personal relationship with God. If our eyes are on God, and we follow the leadership of our pastor we will continue to be an awesome church. I am thrilled to be a small part of something so wonderful!!

It was a great Sunday. The success of our church is definitely a God thing and not anything any of us do. He really is working in our church and I am so thankful our pastor and staff seek Him for every decision made. Thank you Lord for letting me be a part of this!
