Getting Ready for Sunday September 7th

September 7th Sermon “When God Says _____________”

There are times in our life that we pray and we don’t get an answer. We pray and nothing happens and the answer is always blank. Today, we will look a check-list of things that could be causing God to be silent when you pray.

This week we begin a new series entitled “Simple Answers: What God Says When We Pray”.  This series is a lot about prayer, but specifically focusing on what to do when God responds, depending on how He responds.  This week we will focus on what to do when God says nothing.  I’m sure you have had those times in your life when it felt like your prayers couldn’t get past the ceiling of your room.  Today our music will focus on our longing to hear God speak, and the fact that we will praise Him no matter what our situation.

We begin this week with “In the Secret”.  I want to know You, I want to hear Your voice, I want to know You more”  What a personal cry to God as we proclaim our need to hear from Him.  Check out the link in the chart above to listen to this song.

“Blessed Be Your Name” is a song that reminds me of the story of Job.  With all that Job went through, I’m sure He wondered if God would ever speak to Him again.  After Job received all of the bad news, he walked down the center of town, tore his clothes, and fell face down and worshiped God.  Even in the times where we feel distance between us and our God, we should still praise Him.  Can you bless the name of God even in the hard times?  Check out this song by clicking the link in the chart above.

“Salvation Is Here” is a statement of faith, as we sing about the things we KNOW to be true about our God.  Even when times are tough, we can go back to what we know is true about our God.  Check out the link to this song by clicking the chart above.

We finish up the music portion of the service today with “Speak to My Heart” which is a prayer that God would speak.  The song goes on to make the statement “speak to my heart and I will obey”.  So often we ask God to speak, but when He does answer, often times we aren’t listening.  Check out the song by clicking the link in the chart above.

Thanks for taking time to see what is going on this Sunday at Oasis.  I look forward to worshipping with you Sunday.
