Getting Ready for Sunday, September 21st

September 21st Sermon “When God Says NO”

There are times when we pray that God is not going to yes to our request. It doesn’t matter how many people you get to pray or how long you pray, if it is not God’s will the answer will always be no. Today, we will look at what we should do when God says no.

This week we continue our series entitled “Simple Answers; What God Says When We Pray”.  This week our topic is “When God Says No”.  It’s so hard for us to hear that word isn’t it?  I know my 2 year old hates to hear it.  I remind her time after time that Dad says no for a reason.  I have to remind myself that there are also reasons that God says no.  He can see the whole picture, and we can only see a small piece.  He knows better than we do.  Today we will celebrate the fact that God has everything under control, even when things don’t go as we plan.

We just have a few songs this week.  We begin with “You Are God Alone” which I think is fitting for the day.  You are God alone and before time began You where on Your throne, You are God alone.  And right now through the good times and bad You are on Your throne, You are God alone.  I have to be reminded that God is God, and no matter what is going on in my life, He is in control.  I simply need to trust that He knows best, even when the answer I hoped for does not happen.

We continue our theme of trust with the hymn “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus”.  This is my all time favorite hymn.   I love the lyrics of this song.  Here’s a bit of useless knowledge for you:  According to my mom, when I was two years old she found me standing in my bed one night singing the chorus of this song.  It seems that my Great Grandma (Granny) had taught it to me when she was baby-sitting one day.  This is an even bigger accomplishment to me personally since I found out last year that I didn’t even know my ABC’s until I was FIVE YEARS OLD!  Fortunately my daughter gets her brains from her Mom, and don’t you know Cindy points that out often. (ha)

We finish with the song “You Never Let Go”.  No matter what we face in our lives, we can be sure that our God is always with us, and He will never let us go.  This is a song of celebration to the fact that one day all of our troubles will be over when we go to live with Christ forever.

Thanks for taking time to see what is going on this Sunday at Oasis.  Hopefully this week we will have electricity.  I look forward to worshipping with you Sunday.

I can’t wait for worship this week. This sermon series has been amazing and we are only in week 2! It’s so awesome to know that even though our world seems to be falling apart that God still holds us in His hands and He is STILL on His throne. Wow! That speaks volumes to my faith. I can’t wait to praise Him on Sunday for being consistent in all things at all times!

We didn’t have electricity last Sunday??? I thought we were just having a coffee house service…without air! It wasn’t bad. I really enjoyed it!
